NRMP

DFPTQ is implementing National Residue Monitoring Plan (NRMP) for monitoring of residues of veterinary medicinal products (VMPs) and environmental contaminants in fishery products from aquaculture farms in Cambodia. The sampling plan is based on collecting a minimum of samples from farms included in the segregated system, as required by regulation (EU) 2022/2292 with related references20, which means as follow:

  • Group A substances: 1 sample per 300 MT
  • Group B substances: 1 sample per 300 MT
  • Contaminants: 1 sample per 700 MT
  • Pesticides: samples determined based on risk assessment

The objective of the program is to:

  • Detect the illegal use of prohibited veterinary medicines;
  • Detect the illegal or wrong use of allowed veterinary medicines;
  • Collect data in support of management towards responsible management of veterinary medicines in animals intended for food.

The NRMP program is annual (April-March) and every year the number of samples, sampling areas and test parameters are decided based on the amount of production in the participating farms as well as the findings from the previous year regarding the allowed and prohibited veterinary medicines.

The program is based on annual plans for sampling and testing considering:

  • Risks related to potential illegal substances on the market
  • Risk related to potential wrong use of legal substances
  • Risks related to specific potential environmental contamination in related areas (runoff from farming areas, mining, etc.)
  • The necessary laboratory test capacity and capability
  • The results of the previous year’s sampling and testing
  • Any specific market requirements for the program
  • Cambodia regulations on authorization, distribution, and use of veterinary medicines in products of aquatic animal origin
  • Cambodia’s regulations on prohibited and allowed pesticides
