FiA and DFPTQ

FiA is a government authority under the Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and has the mandate to implement the conservation, management, and sustainable development of fisheries resources. FiA essential functions are (i) administrative, which includes administrative management, fisheries management and community fisheries development; (ii) fisheries law, policy, and planning development and enforcement; and (iii) technical, which includes scientific research, conservation and capture fisheries-related technologies development as well as aquaculture development and monitoring, control and surveillance in the fisheries sector. Under FiA, the Department of Fisheries Postharvest Technology and Quality Control (DFPTQ) has the mandate to perform control and inspection at all fishery sites and processing establishments and issue health certificates for export.
Proclamation (No 501 BmI Kor.Korxor.Kor.Bok ) on Establishment of Quality and Processing Division of the Department of Fisheries (currently DFPTQ) specifies the following responsibility: drafting rules and regulation related to the Quality, Safety, maintenance of fish and fish products and Monitor Aquatic Animal’s Health, participate in solving all issues related to quality and safety of fish and fish products at processing and production locations, inspect quality and safety of fish and fish products at selling. Stocking and processing locations, monitor and evaluate quality and safety of fish and fish products based on regional and international standards and monitor and evaluate quality of fish and fish products for import and export.

We recently hosted a dissemination workshop on "Technical Requirements for Export of Fish and Fishery Products," where we shared crucial insights for fishery processing enterprise owners looking to export to the EU and other international markets. Did you know? To export fish and fishery products to the EU, Cambodia must pass audits by the EU Directorate General for Health and Food Safety (DG-SANTE), ensuring compliance with EU regulations on food safety, animal health, and more. Awarding CQS Certificates for the Successful Enterprises Round 2

Training on Technical Requirements for the Export of Fish and Fisheries Products
Empowering the fisheries sector! The CAPFISH-Capture: Post-harvest Fisheries Development project organized a 3-day training workshop on technical requirements for the export of fish and fisheries products. After the workshop, the Fisheries Competent Authority (FCA) and cantonment officials, including 17 women from 17 provinces, have gained the skills and knowledge to effectively implement food safety control systems and guide fish processing enterprises and their associated actors. This is a huge step forward in ensuring compliance with local and export requirements and promoting the growth of our fisheries sector! Development of Digital Traceability System for Fishery Supply Chains
Promoting transparency and efficiency in Cambodia’s fisheries supply chain! CAPFISH-Capture: Post-harvest Fisheries Development project recently hosted a training workshop on the development of a digital traceability system for supply chains of Cambodia’s fish and fishery products. Adopting the system, the fisheries enterprises will gain more consumer trust and competitiveness, leading to a wider market access.
