Fisheries Administration (FiA) and DFPTQ
FiA is a government authority under the Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and has the mandate to implement the conservation, management, and sustainable development of fisheries resources. FiA essential functions are (i) administrative, which includes administrative management, fisheries management and community fisheries development; (ii) fisheries law, policy, and planning development and enforcement; and (iii) technical, which includes scientific research, conservation and capture fisheries-related technologies development as well as aquaculture development and monitoring, control and surveillance in the fisheries sector. Under FiA, the Department of Fisheries Post-harvest Technologies and Quality Control (DFPTQ) has the mandate to perform control and inspection at all fishery sites and processing establishments and issue health certificate for export.
