Consultation on the Development of the Marine Fisheries Management Plan at Sub-national level Stakeholders in 4 Coastal Provinces In August 2022, with the technical support of FAO CAPFISH-Capture, the Fisheries Administration organized four consultation workshops to discuss and inform key stakeholders about the draft Marine Fisheries Management Plan (MFMP) and incorporate their inputs. The MFMP process kicked off in 2021 with a review of Cambodia's marine fisheries information, as well as a brief policy review. The main objectives of the MFMP are to promote a balance between ecological well-being that focuses on healthy fisheries resources and environment, and human well-being that pertains to food security, employment, livelihoods and income. The aim is to ensure that the benefits derived from the fisheries are available for future generations.
A total of 228 people, of which 63 were women, attended the events, including national and provincial authorities, personnel of the Fisheries Administration, Department of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, Fisheries Administration Cantonments; marine FiA inspectorate, the Navy ,  National Committee for Maritime Security, Maritime Police Department, fishers, fish processors, micro fish traders and NGOs/Development Partners.  The draft MFMP will go through further consultations and it is expected to be finalized in late 2022.
